Valkyria: SMG for Skill Orientated Builds

By: Admin

Valkyria is one of named weapons in The Division added in 1.1 update. It’s a converted version of SMG-9. This gun is a good for skill orientated builds. If you use skills a lot this weapon will be a very good choice because it reduces skill cooldowns and increase damage after using skills. It’s the smallest SMG in the game. :)

Skin

As any other named weapon, Valkyria comes with unique skin. Almost all metal parts of the gun are painted with shiny gold. The handle is covered with black plastic. It looks very similar to Midas. The image below shows how this SMG looks in the game.

Valkyria

Basic Stats

  • Gear Score: 204
  • DMG: 8734 – 9775 (depending on how lucky you are)
  • RPM: 825
  • MAG: 32
  • Accuracy: rather good.
  • Range: small
  • Stability: low

You can put 3 mods: Magazine, Muzzle and Optic. With magazine mod it’s possible to increase mag up to 60 bullets which is really good boost. This will help to increase DPS a lot.

This SMG has extra 21% critical hit chance. With such fire rate, stability and extra critical chance this SMG becomes one of the deadliest weapons in the game.

Talents

  • Determined: when you kill someone skill cooldowns reduce by 9%. Requires 2063 Firearms and 2579 Electronics.
  • Competent: after you use a skill weapon damage is increased by 13.50% for 10 seconds. Requires 1547 Firearms and 2063 Electronics.
  • Responsive: when closer than 10 meters to the target damage is increased by 13.5%. Unlocked by default.

PvE

In PvE low range of the SMG impacts its usefulness a lot. Most PvE encounters require medium or high range guns while Valkyria has the lowest effective range compared with other SMGs. It’s very difficult to land headshots with this gun if the enemy stands at medium range.

PvP

This weapon is good for PvP because of high attack speed. But you need to be close to the enemy in order to deliver all the shots. In general Vector is a better choice for Player vs Player fights.

How to Get?

The most frequently asked question is: How to obtain Valkyria? The answer is: Crafting. Visit DZ vendor in Dark Zone 03 and buy Valkyria blueprint there. It will cost you about 260 000 Dark Zone funds. There is also rank requirement. You have to be DZ Rank 90 in order to purchase this blueprint! It’s the first blueprint with such requirement! As you see the price and rank requirement are high but it’s the only way of obtaining this gun.

Valkyria Blueprint

After you have purchased the blueprint go to your Base of Operations and start crafting. You will need 6 Weapon Parts, 4 Tools and 4 Division Tech (all High-End rarity) for creating this weapon.

Conclusion

Though the gun is very difficult to obtain because of high cost and high rank requirement it’s not the best SMG in The Division. You may want this gun only if you focus on using skills and like to fight at close range. If you don't it's better to select other SMG.
